About Grady Chan

Hello! My name is Grady Chan and I am a graduate of Babson College! I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in legal studies. Upon arriving at Babson, my understanding of business, particularly sports business, was limited. However, I knew I had a passion for the game of baseball and that working in the industry was my ultimate goal. Through the years, baseball had played a recurring role in my life. I had played from little league to high school varsity, worked at Extra Innings batting cage and pro shop, and had become well-versed in player equipment, especially gloves, which I collected and resold. Furthermore, based on the high school business classes I took and my experience with DECA (a business competition where I presented an advertisement campaign for Wilson baseball gloves), I could see myself concentrating in sports marketing or management. Four years later, I can confidently say that the classes and experiences I had at Babson have opened my eyes to many more sports-based career avenues. Some highlights from my time at Babson include- Co-teaching entrepreneurship to 11th graders in South Africa; discovering how much I enjoy meeting and learning from people of different backgrounds - Interning with What Pros Wear as an MLB Content Creator; connecting with representatives from Rawlings, Nokona, BreakingT, Mizuno, New Balance, and Louisville Slugger and honing my writing skills - Staffing a Boston Got Sole event (sneaker convention) at Gillette Stadium; learning more about what it takes to put on a successful special event - Serving as a student consultant with the Boston Red Sox on their utilized digital engagement tools and strategies (fan-centric); becoming more informed about the business side of baseball and solidifying my desire to pursue a career in professional baseball - Forming relationships with college students in the Middle East; realizing the opportunity to pursue a career at the intersection of my schooling, fandom in baseball, and heart to travel and interact with people around the world I concentrated in legal studies because I saw a pathway which coupled sports and business through sports agency; representing professional baseball players. Another potential career choice at this aforementioned "intersection" is scouting and, more specifically, international scouting. I also continue to have a keen interest in the many types of baseball gear used in the game today and would welcome a chance to become involved in the sale of equipment and/or game experiences.
