About Grady Orr

I've been studying and applying Computer Science for 7 years. Now graduated with my BS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, I work at Manhattan Associates solving problems, presenting technical solutions and interacting with their clients.Practicing Computer Science, I'm interested in applying my skills to new areas and adapting to new problems. Some of the best (and worst) experiences I've had in this field are those that force me to adapt and learn to apply skills outside my comfort zone.Ever since it was a requirement to install a CentOS VM to compile C code for a course, I've been interested in using different operating systems. When the time came that my laptop would no longer run windows well, I installed an ubuntu flavor and started making it my own. When I had to use CLI to accomplish almost everything, it became much easier to be familiar with instead of an interface to study. It was a new experience to manage peripherals and drivers that didn't work now that it wasn't abstracted by a VM, and that was a frequent challenge on that hardware. Once that laptop had enough, I now can use the same CLI on stable hardware with macOS. I continue to learn new ways to automate, customize, and make life easier on my environments.I enjoy helping people, and take the opportunity to volunteer and mentor as I can, and why I started off in Technical Support. I am able to solve new problems, develop custom solutions for such problems, or troubleshoot previous solutions and get all types of feedback when interacting directly with client teams.I'm trained and experienced programming in Java, C, and python. I dabble in other languages and technical problems over on my github from time to time, helping friends with their personal projects or advancing my own.
