Graeme Traves is a senior Insurance Partner in HWL Ebsworth's Insurance Practice Group in Brisbane. He has more than 30years experience in Insurance law. Graeme is the preferred legal adviser to a number of private and self insured companies on matters relating to workers’ compensation, self insurance, policy interpretation, accident compensation, occupiers' liability for personal injuries actions and public liability. In the last five years, Graeme has settled over 400 common law claims for WorkCover, public liability insurers and his self insurer clients. In all, Graeme has settled 95% of his cases without the need to proceed to trial. Graeme also assists clients to reduce claim turnaround time and costs. His recommendations help clients to improve the efficiency of their case management procedures. Graeme's experience in this area is reflected in his excellent results for clients at settlement conferences and mediations. He has acted for both State and Federal workers' compensation insurers as well as numerous public liability and self insurer clients including large mining companies, airlines and banks. He has a detailed understanding of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 and the workings of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and has conducted numerous defences of Asbestosis Claims in NSW and Qld.
