About Graham Dutton

I am a self-disciplined, safety conscious individual having worked my way up from a Lifeguard to Duty Manager and now Aquatics Coordinator, I have always worked with safety in mind. This progression through the ranks of the Leisure Industry I feel demonstrates my ability to learn, better myself and achieve the goals set by both my employer, and my personal goals. Working in the Leisure Industry requires me to be able to work on my own as well as within a team to achieve a collective goal. Having worked in this industry for many years I feel I have built up very good interpersonal skills. In the past I have had to balance a full time college course (being the class rep), 2 part time jobs and run the local scout group. During this time I had to do a lot of reports and work to strict deadlines. I also personally built my own computer and had to use all Microsoft packages and computer programming packages. When leading the local Scout group I led the troop for a year before having to give up due to work commitments. In this time I tracked all 25 scouts’ progress and raised the bar on their achievements. My motivation is key to how I have progressed through my career and what keeps driving me forward today. My current post requires me to manage swimming lessons across multiple facilities. This requires high staffing levels, which I keep an eye on 7 days a week. On days off, I am on call for my staff to contact me with any issues relating to the operation of swimming lessons. I have placed procedures in place to minimise calls when off duty however when called I must assess the issue over the phone and decide the action needed. I take pride in the fact that my procedures put in place and my staff being trained on them have resulted in very few issues over the past few years.
