I began my employment at Concept Controls Inc in 2014 as the shipper/receiver in Edmonton. Drawing on my previous shipping experience, I quickly learned the processes at Concept Controls. Additionally, I acquired knowledge of new shipping tasks such as international shipping, shipping Dangerous Goods by ground, and shipping Lithium batteries. Due to my lack of prior gas detection experience, CCI and I collaborated to become more familiar with our products to better support our customers. For several years, I independently managed my department, ensuring accurate stock levels, timely delivery of requested goods to customers, and working in cohesion with other departments such as Purchasing, Inside Sales, Rentals & Service, and Outside Sales. Subsequently, I was promoted to the Service & Rental department as a service technician. During this time, I worked alongside a team of three colleagues to ensure prompt servicing of customer equipment and proper preparation and shipment of rentals based on customer timelines. Moreover, I provided shipping training for new members in our shipping department. With the recent addition of Field Services Group to our company, I was promoted to the Lead Shipper/Receiver for Alberta. Though my role is dynamic, its main focus is supporting the Western Canadian Distribution Hub in our Edmonton office and supervising a team of three shippers (two in Edmonton and one in Calgary). In this position, some responsibilities include training new shipping staff and providing support whenever necessary. As Concept Controls Inc continues to expand, my role also evolves. I now provide some level of support to field service technicians, project management, internal service technicians, inside sales, purchasing, and outside sales. As a team, our ultimate objective is to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. Since 2018, I have had the privilege of serving as a volunteer Big Brother Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. During this time, I have been paired with two Little Brothers, one of whom has successfully graduated from the program and the other with whom I am currently still matched. Being able to be a friend and mentor to these young men has been a truly rewarding experience, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to guide them on their journey to success.
