About Graham MacRae

I started my career in mining in 2010, spending eight years in underground operations across Canada and Australia. My experience spans both engineering and operations, covering all aspects of mine scheduling, planning, and execution. While my primary role was in engineering, I gained hands-on exposure to the full mining cycle—from jumbo drilling and bolting to stope loading and haulage. Since 2018, my work with Deswik has focused on operations scheduling, leveraging the Deswik.OPS web application and its supporting tools. I’ve been deeply involved in OPS’s evolution, helping shape it from an emerging technology into the industry-leading platform it is today. I’ve led implementations at numerous sites, guiding teams from initial discovery through to full adoption and integration. Through my work with web-based, SQL-driven applications, I have also built an arsenal of tools using connected reporting platforms such as Power BI and Excel’s Power Query Editor. This has proven invaluable in leveraging the vast data foundation that OPS and Deswik.Apps support—transforming raw data into meaningful insights that drive better decision-making. My strength lies in bridging the gap between complex digital solutions and practical, user-friendly applications at mine sites. I take pride in simplifying digital transformation, ensuring frontline supervisors and operators can effectively leverage these tools—turning what were once barriers into sustainable, value-driven processes. From risk analysis and business justification to deployment, change management, and long-term sustainability, I thrive on driving real operational improvements. My industry experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges mine sites face, allowing me to be more than just a consultant—I’m a partner in their success.
