About Graham Ure

Graham specialises in providing technology based services focused on the detection and investigation, prevention and remediation of financial crime. He is the global co-lead for Financial Crime Technology within PwC, with a particular focus on surveillance and market abuse. He also brings considerable experience of conducting investigations in the financial services sector. He has almost 20 years of experience working in the area of business intelligence and data analytics. He has a background in data analytics and systems implementation and in the last 11 years has specialised in Forensic and Financial Crime technology helping clients comply with regulation and respond to issues. He has a passion for the use of data analytics and providing clients with real insights and actionable facts. He and his colleagues are practitioners in the use of the latest data mining and visualisation technology; he has applied these to the detection of fraud, ABC, sanctions and terrorist financing related issues. Graham has worked on some of the most notable investigations of the last few years and has supported a number of financial institutions in working with regulators to analyse trading patterns and behaviours across FX, Libor and other benchmarks. This has entailed applying analytics to trade data, and review of communications, emails and instant messaging using concept clustering and predictive coding techniques. Graham advises on unauthorised trading, surveillance and market abuse, and building upon a firm view of global regulators’ expectations in this area, has supported clients in developing their surveillance operating models, surveillance technology and application of behavioural analytics. He has a detailed knowledge of the surveillance vendor landscape and hands-on experience of both implementing and enhancing trade and e-comms surveillance solutions.
