Background
About Grant Becker
I’m a Biomedical Engineering student at Case Western Reserve University, focused on addressing real-world healthcare challenges through both research and hands-on experience. My path began at the Air Force Academy and has since evolved to include work in ultrasound diagnostics, vascular access, and surgical graft preservation—areas where engineering and medicine intersect in meaningful ways. My research experience includes projects in ultrasound-based diagnostics for AV fistulas, 3D-printed biomaterials, machine learning models for vascular stenosis detection, and tissue perfusion modeling for transplant surgery. I’ve had the opportunity to present this work at BMES, AIAA, and EMBC, and I co-authored a conference paper on classifying blood flow using acoustic signals and machine learning. Outside the lab, I serve as Assistant Chief of Operations for CWRU EMS and support fellow students as a Supplemental Instructor in Organic Chemistry. My years of experience as an EMT—both on campus and back home in New York—have shaped my ability to lead, collaborate, and remain calm in fast-paced clinical settings. I’m especially interested in medical devices, biomaterials, and diagnostic technologies like ultrasound. I enjoy working with tools like MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, SOLIDWORKS, and 3D printing, and I’m drawn to roles that involve problem-solving across both technical and clinical domains.
