Background
About Grant Douglas
I have worked for the past 30+ years in higher education, first as a lecturer in history and politics and then for 14 years as head of languages and international relations at ESTIT, a textile engineering school at Lille in the north of France. For 3 years I was in charge of the international relations service at HEI, another engineering school based at Lille. From September 2008 I was in charge of developing intercultural communications at ICL-Clarife, the language and intercultural communication centre of Lille Catholic University. From September 2014 I worked more or less full-time for IESEG School of Management to help develop and implement their plan to become not just an acknowledged international school but a truly intercultural one, before finally becoming a full-time faculty member in 2018. I am currently Principal Professor of Practice, coordinator of the intercultural track and co-director of ICIE, IESEG Center for Intercultural Engagement. My main professional objectives at the moment are pretty much the same as they have been for quite some time and include increasing the number of courses in intercultural communication and management and diversity management offered at all levels on the campus. This includes undergrad, postgrad and professional development programmes for faculty and administrative staff. I will also be looking to develop a research and publishing dimension in what we do. Specialties: I have skills in general intercultural communication and management techniques, especially organising and supporting overseas missions. I've been assisting students and staff in these areas for over 20 years. I have, individually or in collaboration with others, organized and implemented numerous courses in intercultural communication and management for students from different backgrounds and disciplines and also for staff in the framework of personal and professional development programmes. I am currently vice-president or SIETAR France and an elected member of the IACCM council.
