About Grant Holt

I am a passionate photographer and videographer with great varied experiences in all aspects of content creation including events, portraits, food, sports, e-commerce, journalistic, fashion, and fine art. I have worked with major educational institutions such as McMaster University, as well as small to mid-sized businesses, not-for-profits, artist-run-centers, and individuals providing them with engaging and intrigue sparking content for their socials, web, and print platforms. With this I have developed many hard and soft skills and strengths, such as-comfortable working within pre-established large-scaled brand guidelines and standards-working with high-end video, audio, and photographic recording equipment-ensuring content is properly formatted for web, social platforms, and print-being the main source and respondent for content creation and publishing. Further, I am an arts educator where I instruct Darkroom Photography at Arts Umbrella, teaching analog practices to youth, along with photo-chemistry, and enlarging of negatives. I am also responsible for maintaining technical hardware and software systems as their Lead Media Arts Technician. I provide creative input, sourcing of materials, implementing new technology, as well as ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. This compliments my previous experience as an Audio Visual technician which further installs my abilities of-working with commercial grade audio, video, projection, and recording technology-quick turnaround times of setting up and tearing down of events-troubleshooting and using critical thinking skills to resolve technical issues-offer grade-A customer service skills, especially in critical times. I love working with people and helping to amplify and communicate their stories. With this, I have a growing passion for photojournalism/press photography field where I held the role of Video Editor for Photographers Without Borders, allowing me to connect with documentary films and short form content editing. I am eager to make connection to help me explore these aspects of my career and philosophy with my trajectory.
