About Grant Mollett

I have been a history teacher in a large public high school since 2002. My instructional focus has been World History, as I have taught the Advanced Placement course since 2006. I believe I have a responsibility to American youth to teach the world that surrounds them. With the burgeoning demands this world will put on the next generation of global citizens, I strive to get my students to become critical thinkers that seek to comprehend, question, and potentially reconstruct this world. I also have taught Advanced Placement European History and US History. I have held numerous positions in addition to teaching. I have served on my school's leadership team as department chairperson of the social studies department between 2009 and 2022. I have served in mentoring capacities for the district's new social studies teachers and alternative certification participants. In addition, I have mentored teachers in the implementation of district writing initiatives, most specifically document-based question (DBQ) essay writing. I helped to establish and have co-sponsored Rho Kappa, my school's social studies honors society. I have been involved with athletics at my school. I was the head boys and girls cross country coach in 2002 and continued as the head boys coach to 2005, and am currently serving as the head girls cross country coach again, and have been in that position since 2016. I have been an assistant coach for the boys basketball team between 2003 and 2023, and in that capacity I have coached freshman and junior varsity basketball teams, and have been a varsity assistant coach. I am also hired by Educational Testing Services as a reader for the College Board. I have read for the Advanced Placement World History exam since 2015.
