About Grant Moran
2015 Emmy winner for "Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program" for his work as Head Writer on PBS Kids' "WORDGIRL" series, Grant's been a writer, story editor, producer and executive in children’s and family entertainment for 25 years. He started out as a director and dramaturge in professional theater, developing new works at the Sundance Institute, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and the New York Theatre Workshop, among others. Segueing into television, he first worked at Warner Bros. Animation as a staff writer-producer, contributing to the development and production of “ANIMANIACS,” “TINY TOON ADVENTURES,” and “BATMAN". At Nickelodeon, he worked both sides of the desk, first overseeing production on "RUGRATS" and "THE WILD THORNBERRYS" as Executive Director of Current Series and then serving as Head Writer/Co-Producer on JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS. After overseeing production on Cartoon Network's "PINK PANTHER & PALS" for RGH Entertainment, Grant was Head Writer on PBS Kids' multiple award-winning "WORDGIRL" series. He's written for Marvel Animation's "GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY" and "MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN";"BOB THE BUILDER" and "LITTLE PEOPLE" for Mattel and was Head Writer on the latter's new "BARBIE DREAMHOUSE ADVENTURES" on Netflix. Recently, he's written for Silvergate Media's "OCTONAUTS", Apple TV+'s "SAGO MINI FRIENDS", and developed the "NUT JOBS" animated series, based on the hit "NUT JOB" feature franchise, for RedRover/Pipeline Studios. Grant works regularly as a creative consultant, helping companies all over the world develop and produce fun, smart, quality entertainment for kids and families. He also teaches extensively, from UCLA Extension to the Art Institute to WETA Workshop's PIPI Program at Victoria University in Wellington, NZ. He's the founder of Kids Entertainment Professionals for Young Refugees, an all-volunteer nonprofit rallying the global children's entertainment community in support of UNICEF's work with child refugees everywhere.
