About Graydon Dawson

I value trust, efficiency, and humor in every aspect of my professional and personal life. I often find myself in positions of leadership and project management. I am a firm believer that leaders create the conditions for success. We think and see the big picture, and empower our teams to reach their goals. I had the privilege of leading hundreds of students during my time at UBC, and as an alumni I look forward to opportunities that further assist students. Dedicated to continuous self-improvement, I strive to be the best version of myself. I am excited for the lifelong learning opportunities a career in mechanical engineering will offer. I've expanded my skills in advanced CAD programs beyond those offered during my degree, and have been keeping my skills up to date by creating 3D print models and participating in the 3D CAD speedmodelling community. I am passionate about mechanical engineering design, with hands-on experience in Formula SAE competitions that honed my skills in real-world engineering challenges. My proficiency in CAD, particularly Siemens NX, allows me to create design solutions that bring projects from concept to completion. Putting thoughts onto paper, and further from paper to reality is an evident skill of mine. It is important to be able to explain and even illustrate concepts and ideas in a manner that can be easily interpreted. I take pride in my ability to teach and demonstrate complex concepts. I am eager to apply myself as a mechanical EIT, preferably in design or inspection. I bring leadership experience, three years of engineering design team experience, and proficiency with a variety of engineering tools. I look forward to working in industry, and I hope you look forward to working with me.
