GAs HISTORY There are many Supervisors out there that found their way into Construction via other industries. I am not one of those, I did my Carpentry apprenticeship for the former High Rise King of the Gold Coast, Ron McMaster Construction, Post my apprenticeship, I worked for myself for quite some time. I take my hat off to any one who is self employed because it is a seven day a week job. But what I believe was the main lesson I took out of working for myself was, truly understanding the value of money. It becomes in grained in your DNA when you are supervising, it is so important that people either directly or indirectly under your control are putting in 100% effort, or else program and progress will only suffer. I have Supervised for many Builders and Developers,( listed below ) To say I am a Journey Man is putting it lightly, why so many you may ask? Well in the early days a lot of the projects I built were one off Projects. I believe having being exposed to many different PMs and CMS helps to develop your own unique Management style. It takes a bit of courage to leave your comfort zone and start a fresh and I have never had a problem with that. HOW IS GA DIFFERENT TO OTHER SENIOR SITE MANAGERS I am comfortable depending on the size of the project operating as the SM and the Structural Foreman, doing this I can drive structure, sequencing and construction methodology. I am not afraid of rolling my sleeves up and getting dirty if need be, not all day, but bursts of leading by example, giving guidance to labourers, the occasional dogging of cranes and driving forklifts if required. I am not what I refer to as an “ office dwelling supervisor “ staring at a computer all day. But in saying that, I pride myself on keeping up tech, I am very proficient at Micro Soft Project, and up dating short term programs religiously every Friday and status them. I have a great relationship with all stakeholders, clients and other wise. I am community minded, my current project we have already raised $4800 dollars for the Salvation Army. My Previous Project Griffith NSW we put almost $ back into the local community I am passionate about safety, every project I undertake and I Champion Safety Awards and Safety BBQs. GAs FUTURE GOALS Completing as many Projects as I can, creating work environments where all concerned enjoy coming to work everyday. Passing on what I have learnt to younger supervisors. Working for as long as I possibly can, because I love Building, and I can Build.
