About Greg Baldwin

My career in sporting goods has been a journey in relationship building. I've traveled a path of building win-win partnerships with brands and business partners throughout the industry. In order to achieve long term success each relationship must be approached in that manner. Those that have known me during my career can attest to my consistent application of this viewpoint- My life philosophy is simple; get up early, work hard and always do the right thing. There is no job too small nor any idea too big- I believe in honest straightforward communications with business partners and direct reports. You never have to guess where I stand on an issue or an opportunity. I feel that in order to fulfill your role as a leader those around you must clearly understand where you stand and (more importantly) what you stand for- I do not shy away from difficult issues or conflict inside or outside the business. Differing opinions lead to meaningful discussion and opportunities for growth. In any business or business relationship there will be problems. They are inevitable. How you respond to those issues will determine your long term success with a relationship- I believe in putting employees/co-workers in a position to succeed. Matching employee skill sets with the objectives of the position is half the job. Secondly, though monitoring performance is important I do not believe in micro-managing. I believe in empowerment- I believe words are important. but actions and decisions ultimately determine the degree of trust you are able to achieve in your relationships. Over time your actions define your legacy. In all long term relationships your true character will emerge. It's true in marriage. It's true in business- I believe in and embrace change and have been a catalyst for change within the two organizations that I've worked for during my career. I'm proud to state that I played a major role in Schuylkill Valley's transition from a traditional brick and mortar retailer to an omni-channel provider with a competitive process for addressing the third party marketplaces (Amazon, Ebay et al) that are so vital in today's commerce. Once the process/approach to the third party marketplaces was defined I then leveraged my long standing relationships in the industry to gain meaningful revenue partnerships with brands.
