I drive a risk-based approach to health, safety, and security management developing programs that work within the operational structure of the business and accomplish cost reduction goals. Integrating HS & E and risk management into the strategic support enterprise, my team and I become key partners in operational stability, efficiency, and effectiveness. HIGHLIGHTS Created key KPIs throughout my career to increase operations teams’ understanding of cost drivers and equip them for conversations with insurance companies. Reduced workman’s comp costs significantly over five years with national, multi-million-dollar company. Identified and replaced several online risk management databases partnering with IT on designing and programming systems and integrating into all functions company wide. Blended five regional safety programs into one nationwide platform and reporting structure within 10 months for global company. Developed and implemented a reasonable suspicion assessment program that became the cornerstone of the company’s safety strategy, reducing risks associated with substance abuse. OPERATIONAL PARTNER Throughout my career, I have been a key partner in the achievement of the organization’s goals by designing safety and security programs within the operational structure of the company. As a result, health, safety, and environment has contributed to significant cost reductions in alignment with business objectives. From my perspective, HS & E’s role should be one of serving the business financially by aligning safety and security systems, strategies, policies, procedures, and technology to keep companies ahead of the threat. SERVANT LEADERSHIP I view the role of HS & E as a service to the rest of the company. Our goal is to make all other business functions feel supported and equipped to implement the safety and security programs. Similarly, with my teams, my role is to serve and equip them to be self-sufficient and prepare them to partner with operations. I seek to develop others via service-oriented leadership that empowers them. I am proud of developing many team members who have taken on larger roles. EARLY CAREER My springboard into HS & E was my time serving in the LAPD where I got exceptional training and education as well as firsthand experience with investigations and risk mitigation, two skills that have served me well in my corporate life.
