There is a deep interest and curiosity in technology that I have which drives me to seek an understanding how their components and systems work on a deeper level, and how they can used to better people's lives. I feel that the IT field lines up well with my skills and interests. From an early age I was introduced to all sorts of interesting technology like my first Compaq desktop PC and Nintendo Home Entertainment System. It was fun seeing them do all sorts of things, but there was a good amount of time spent trying to get them to work at times and attempt to fix them up by seeing what's under the hood. This eventually let to a sense of curiosity and enjoyment in handling different types of hardware while being careful and precise with what I'm doing, whether it's taking them apart or putting them back together. Having worked at MERCK for 2+ years as an eDiscovery analyst, I was accustomed to handling hard drives carrying sensitive data, whether it was for imaging, decryption or simply removing them from computers and enclosures. Having to work with delicate components really just increases my focus with what I'm doing, and it's always satisfying to get things working because it shows that I really took the time and care to do things correctly. I am now continuing my IT journey through the Per Scholas program, in pursuit of acquiring my Certifications for IT support from CompTIA A+ and Google through hands-on training experience together with like-minded peers.
