Background
About Greg Bulkley
I have a unique depth and breadth of experience in aviation and leadership. Chief Pilot for Flight Technical and Safety at Boeing, Wing Commander of the 141 ARW and United Airlines pilot. At Boeing, I was responsible for aircrew operations for every current, legacy and developmental aircraft. As a Wing Commander, I was tasked with creating a unique association between an Air National Guard Wing and an Active Duty Air Force Wing. It may seem easy, but the organizations operate under different command structures and laws. I have hours, in military, commercial, general aviation and historic aircraft. I hold an Airline Transport Pilot license, with type ratings in the 707, 720, 737, 757, 767, 787, A-319/320 and NB-25. Although I'm proud of my flying, I take greater pride in my leadership skills. I earned a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University, where the philosophy of servant leadership resonated deeply with me. At Boeing, I led a team of internationally recognized Technical Pilots who determined aircrew procedures and fielded operational questions from over 600 airlines. The Safety Pilots in the group are called on by the NTSB to investigate accidents and incidents as well as running an outstanding Flight Operations Support Program. I also added the Electronic Checkilist Group to Flight Technical and Safety. This small group creates over 1200 deliverables annually for all Boeing 787 and 747-8 fleets. No ECL aircraft can be delivered without their unique expertise and hard work. Not getting this group the updated tools needed to perform their work is one task I was unable to accomplish before leaving. While at Boeing and as a Wing Commander, I successfully led people through disruptive restructuring, managed multi-million dollar budgets and negotiated labor contracts. I led my Boeing team through the aftermath of the two MAX accidents, a global pandemic, transition to/from virtual work and the transition to a new business unit. My success is due to an unwavering belief in servant leadership, building strong teams through diversity and active listening. I feel strongly that good ideas can come from anyone and embrace the power of expertise over the power of position. Recognition includes: Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society; International Advisory Committee to the Flight Safety Foundation; Personnel Training and Licensing Panel for ICAO; Aircrew Training Policy Group for EASA; Aviation Safety and Security Certificate from USC Viterbi School of Engineering.
