About Greg Carter

I am a Senior Software Engineer with extensive experience in software architecture, design and construction, parallel programming, data structures and algorithms, client/server and peer-to-peer interface design, and project estimation. Most recently I have focused on building out support in Fivetran's HVR product for capturing transactions from SAP's ASE database management system including integration with SAP's family of transaction replication products (ie. Replication Agent, Replication Server). Starting my career as math teacher before becoming software professional, I have never lost my enthusiasm for conveying my knowledge to others and taking opportunities to further my education in the latest, best practices of my craft. I am able to leverage this enthusiasm to quickly master the requirements at hand so that I not only soon become productive but very often take the lead in the effort. HIGHLIGHTS: Designed and developed a system deployment server (a'la Octopus Deploy - https://octopus.com/). Not as feature rich, perhaps, but much easier to use. Helped design and construct a storage hypervisor that could be hosted on premise or in the cloud. Designed and constructed a software solution to exchange data between disparate database management systems without losing the semantics of the data. Led a team of 8 to enable a database transaction replication product to communicate with disparate database management systems using their native APIs. Codified the policies and procedures used to bring order and predictability to the professional software engineering shop.
