About Greg Firestone

I am a data science leader who is energized by the challenge of tackling hard business problems using statistical techniques, machine learning and AI. Over my 18-year career in the insurance field, I have utilized my deep knowledge to help improve insurance rates, refine marketing via customer lifetime value, enhance claims processes through machine learning and developed intelligent reports that direct attention to the critical issues more quickly. In my most recent role, as Vice President of Allstate’s Data Science Organization, I headed a team of 55 data scientists responsible for developing machine learning solutions to operational challenges. We built dynamic customer lifetime value that improved marketing efficiencies by $40 million; advanced claims outcomes through more efficient delivery; and designed reports that proactively identified issues in key performance metrics and potential root causes. I began my Allstate career in 2005 as a consultant in Product Operations and progressively assumed roles of increasing responsibility to lead and direct work in claims management, insurance pricing and risk management. In 2011, I received the Allstate Chairman’s Award for my role in developing innovative rating plan techniques and tools to drive profitability and growth. My diverse experiences within Allstate and working across many different functional areas has given me the perspective to understand complex problems from multiple perspectives and devised collaborative solutions.
