About Greg Garrett

I have more than 35 years’ experience working in the upstream oil and gas industry, primarily as a Process, Facilities, and Project Engineer. My recent experience is with large offshore gas projects. I also have experience with onshore projects and oil production. My work history includes 22 years as a direct employee for a major oil & gas company and 15 years as an independent consultant. I have participated in all phases of project execution from Concept Selection through to Commissioning/Start-up. As a consultant I have worked for large companies including BP, ConocoPhillips, PetroChina and CNOOC. My position on PMTs is typically Lead Process Engineer. In addition to working on projects, I also support Operations with process troubleshooting, plant debottlenecking and production optimization. My career has included a significant amount of field development planning for onshore and offshore developments. I have lots of experience working with subsurface/reservoir engineers and commercial teams to identify the optimum development plan. I consider process safety to be paramount and apply inherently safer design principles throughout all phases of design development. Rigorous application of HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA & SIL ensures process safety goals are achieved. My experience working for major operators has given me thorough knowledge of world class engineering standards and practices.
