Background
About Greg Good
Greg is a highly experienced strategist, team builder, advocate, policymaker, communicator, implementer and leader. He knows how to get things done from inside and outside systems - and he is relentless. Throughout his career, Greg has taken on the difficult work—the work that overwhelms others—and he has achieved results. Currently, Greg is the Director of Strategic Engagement and Policy at the Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD), where he leads implementation of the groundbreaking United to House LA ballot measure. Greg also manages several LAHD teams, including Policy, Data Analytics and Performance Management, Communications and Government Affairs, and Emergency Readiness. Prior to joining LAHD, Greg held multiple roles in the administration of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. During that time, he worked with a diverse array of stakeholders in helping to establish the LA Civil and Human Rights Department, City Plants, and an eviction defense pilot program. Greg also facilitated passage of recycLA, a comprehensive re-visioning of Los Angeles’ commercial waste and recycling sector, and secured approval of a developer linkage fee, which is already helping to fund affordable housing in the City. In 2020, Greg was appointed as the President of the Los Angeles Board of Public Works. In that role, Greg built out the City’s Climate Emergency Mobilization Office and launched a Workforce Equity Demonstration Project to bring more African American workers into Public Works jobs. Greg also managed the city offices responsible for community beautification, oil and gas regulation, and urban forestry, and worked with studios large and small as the director of the City’s Office of Film & Television Production. Before going to City Hall, Greg served as a Campaign Director at the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE), where he led the Don’t Waste LA campaign that eventually became recycLA. Prior to joining LAANE, Greg spent several years as a full-time educator, teaching grades ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade English in the Inglewood and Compton Unified School Districts. Greg received a B.A. from Brown University and his J.D. from UCLA School of Law. He serves on the LAANE Advisory Board, as well as the Board of Directors of the Program for Torture Victims, a comprehensive service organization dedicated to meeting the needs of survivors of state-sponsored torture.
