Hi… I’ve been across many disciplines across my time in BT so don’t think Greg only working for one company is detrimental. Hey … its your opinion anyway.I’m a fun loving chap who likes to get on with people but will stand up for what is right. People I have managed seem to like me and I do give an element of autonomy to people working to me. A bit of history of my 40 years career….It’ll start slow but gets quicker.Started as an apprentice many many years ago and have moved through being an Electrician, Heavy Engineering maintenance and Installing data services to customer premises.This is where it starts to get interesting.I volunteered to be a system tester due to my experience installing data services which then set me on the road of deeper business understanding and enjoying Project work (the actual bit that does stuff. At that time I generally had 14 system projects on the go at any point in time.Moved into product development for global and corporate areas as a benefit manager. Unfortunately the team did not like what I exposed to them and promptly closed the role down. Got promoted in another Benefit management role where strangely the finance team would not let me know whatthe benefits of the business case were. The excitement of reverse engineering the business case and presenting it to CFO had me lifted into Finance.Finance is a strange world with strange people. Lets say i did not last there and was promptly picked up back into system projects supporting programme management.Happy now… back in system space. Ultimately I ended up in Data Migration where I’ve remained and thouroughly enjoy it. Its an absolute please to be delivering large scale projects with at maximum point looking after 134 subcontractors. Together we have delivered close to 70 migrations of which half significantly impacted the company.I’d managed to get the team in a space where it’s not just a project. It's migrating a customer and we don’t want to impact them in any way be it financially, usage, manageability, security and most of all their experience of the service they have been provided.This thinking is also looking at data in abstract manners to extract insight for more projectsWow… maybe too many words but it is what it is.
