Since 2003 I have been providing tax and accounting support to contractors who live and work in the UK. I really enjoy the close interaction with clients, and taking the time to understand their circumstances to help them structure their earnings in the most tax efficient way. Back in 2003 myself and my wife set-up No Worries Company Services Ltd - we were the first contractor accounting firm to offer an online bookkeeping service, and the first of the contractor accountants to offer a low monthly fee (back in 2003 the standard accountants fee was 5% of the amount the contractors invoiced their client/agency). While No Worries is a great brand name for a contractor accounting service that predominately has a Kiwi/Australian/SA client base, we did find it put off a number of British/European contractors. So in 2011 we launched Capital City Accountancy, which really is a business that has taken all the best parts of No Worries, and all the lessons we have learned over the years, and packaged them all together into a new accountancy service for contractors. We then launched a payroll company in the UK, No Worries Red Umbrella Ltd, to help contractors who wanted a low-stress route into contracting. From the contractor side they simply create a Timesheet, and then get paid a net salary into their personal bank account. From our side the processes are a bit more complex to ensure we run a fully compliant payroll service for contractors. Then at the end of 2018 came Simplifi - a new cloud accounting software for both our accounting clients, and new businesses that don't have (or need) their own accountant. It takes everything we have learned since 2003 and puts it into a new modern software product built using open standards that can easily integrate into our software products via our API. The software will be continually updated, and with its built-in flexibility our aim will be to have it used by small businesses, freelancers, and contractors all over the world.
