About Greg McNeely

I would love to have had only one job on my resume but, contemporary healthcare has not been that stable. I have been working as an OT for over 23 years now and I have always stayed a generalist to stay employed to support my family. I would have loved to have specialized but industries can be decimated with funding changes so a specialty could lead to a dead end and significant retraining. Ideally I would like to only have one more job on my resume for the rest of my career Although I have loved working with clients in every setting so far, Good Shepherd hospital (now part of Christus) is still my favorite. I was there for 5+ years, and learned so much about Texas hospitality from my wonderful coworkers, supervisor Ron Short and from the example of the CEO Gerry Adair who was a tough Texan with a heart of gold. Although Ron Short had advanced quickly and deservedly through the ranks at Good Shepherd, he was an inspiring servant leader, a PT who would jump in to help when needed. I continue to look for a place where the patient/client truly is the highest priority. If the patient/client is highest priority, then they will receive the highest quality of care, within the applicable funding parameters. This leads to better outcomes for the patient/client which will lead to return clients as well as people within their sphere of influence. I don't offer, or expect, perfection. My pursuit of excellence in clinical care is balanced with practical business considerations. My idealism remains intact but is tempered by almost 2 decades of experience in a variety of Occupational Therapy settings. I do offer confident leadership through humble service. I believe in building up and encouraging those around me including patients/clients and coworkers. I am a team player with strong leadership skills rooted in humility, service and pragmatic idealism. Although I am now doing pediatric Occupational Therapy home health San Antonio I am looking to return to adult healthcare.
