Greg Robertson is a Police Professional with over 30 years combined experience. Beginning with a 6-year career in Provincial Corrections he became a Police Officer with Halifax Regional Police in performing general patrol duties including community foot patrols, bicycle, motorcycle, and divisional patrol. He became a Detective Constable in 2005 assigned to the integrated Halifax Regional Police-RCMP General Investigative Division. In 2007 he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to uniform patrol duties for 7 years regularly assigned as Watch Commander. In 2014 he returned to the Criminal Investigative Division as a Detective leading several high-profile complex investigations. In 2017 he was assigned to the Professional Standards Division as an investigator resolving many internal and external police act complaints. In 2018 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant-Watch Commander responsible for leading a patrol watch of 50 Police Officers. He was also responsible for HRP's Public Safety Unit and GSAR Incident Commanders. In 2019 he transferred to a Divisional Commander role working along side Crime Analyst, School Liaison Officers, Community Response Officers, community representatives and Municipal Councilors. In 2020 he was promoted to Inspector of Information Management. The Information Management Divisional Commander has the following responsibilities: • Access to Information/FOIPOP Coordinator • Integrated Emergency Services, PSAP/911 Center • Integrated Courts, Records, Stats, Criminal Record Check, CPIC. • Electronic disclosure and BWV implementation • Implementation of STIU large scale projects and upgrades • Integrated Traffic Support Services • Emergency Planning • Contracted CORPS of Commissionaires In June of 2024 he was assigned to the support division as superintendent. This includes specialized services such as ERT, K-9, Aviation and Ports units. Greg has extensive experience with emergency management events including assignments as Incident Commander for several large-scale community events ranging from marathons, parades, weather related events and police critical incident events. Greg has Incident Command qualifications with Ground Search and Rescue, Initial Critical Incident Command Level One, authorized Alert Ready Issuer and All Hazards Incident Command. Greg has experience creating and updating MOU's SLA's as well budgeting and presenting at the Board of Police Commissioners and Regional Council. Greg chairs several governance and committee meetings including Integrated Emergency Services and Records Management.
