As Chief Legal & Compliance Officer for Messer Americas, I supervise a team of over 30 lawyers and other professionals who provide legal, compliance, risk management and business guidance to Messer companies throughout North and South America. My team covers five countries, seven time zones and four languages. Together, we protect and support Messer and its employees in all legal areas, including audit, commercial, corporate, compliance, employment, environmental, governmental, insurance, intellectual property, litigation, M&A, real estate and regulatory. With over 70 production facilities and more than 5,400 employees in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Colombia and Chile, Messer is one of the leading industrial and medical gases companies in North and South America. Messer Americas emerged from the March 1, 2019, acquisition by Messer Group and CVC Capital Partners Fund VII of most of the North American gases business formerly belonging to The Linde Group, as well as certain other divested businesses in South America, in connection with the merger of Linde AG and Praxair, Inc. that formed Linde plc. Together with Messer Group, the company is part of a USD $3 billion global enterprise with operations and presence in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
