The Associate Head of School/High School Principal is a member of the school’s Leadership Team whose chief responsibility is the oversight for all activities involving students and faculty in the High School. • maintains congruency between the school’s mission statement and all activities of that division • acts as the educational leader of the school division, responsible for its day-to-day operation • direct the actions of the members of the school instructional and the non-instructional staff in the performance of their duties • functions as the chief articulator of that division’s programs, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure that all constituencies are informed of their specific roles • observes, supervises, and evaluates the middle and high school faculty • oversees the teaching process and reviews and evaluates the academic programs • provides an orderly, controlled environment in which learning can take place • maintains a school climate which is supportive and which reflects high morale • remains aware of the educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of the members of the school community and develops plans for meeting these needs • ensures compliance with legal requirements of government regulations and agencies; maintains the educational standards established by the SAIS and the MAIS • makes recommendations to the Head of School regarding the hiring and retention, and the assignment of faculty • creates programs for the orientation of new teachers, for in-service training of all teachers, and for the evaluation of classroom teachers, to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation
