About Greg Sharzer

I'm a writer, researcher and facilitator, and I want to apply my broad experience in communication to helping others develop critical thinking skills. Writing - and teaching others how to write - forms a large part of what I do, and always from the perspective of what writing signals: the ability to communicate complex ideas, be it skills in different academic literacies, professional development achievements or unpacking texts to form critical insights. For my PhD in Political Science, I synthesized political economy and cultural studies, addressing debates on local economic development, food security and democracy. I've taught university-level courses on globalization, critical theory and communications. I've also written numerous media and academic articles on topics ranging from The Simpsons to co-operatives to power ballads. Some of my experiences include working as Contract Faculty, teaching dozens of students to write and think critically. I've also designed courses, lectured, written presentations, led discussions, and supervised exams. I'm comfortable communicating to large groups of people.
