About Greg Smith

Greg Smith grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Immediately after graduating high school, he attended barber school in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He worked in the hair industry there for a few years before moving to Tennessee in 1988. After working with a couple of salons in the Nashville area, he accepted a position with Heads Up in 1989. Greg signed his first franchise agreement with Heads Up in 1995 and opened his first store in Madison, Tennessee. In the following years he opened three more stores in the Nashville area. He has since started focusing his efforts on his Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, and Donelson locations. Roger Scruggs started the original Heads Up in 1979 in Nashville. He and his wife Brenda still own and operate many locations throughout the Nashville area. Roger appeared on a makeover show for many years on Talk of The Town, a local television program. Greg's locations were also periodically on the show highlighting his stylists skills and talent. Greg says,"The number one thing I want my clients to walk away with is feeling great about their experience in the salon. I want to know they received excellent service. I want them to feel better about themselves because of the experience and also about the cut and style they have as a result of visiting one of our salons." Family is also very important to Greg."My wife Judy, an RN at Summit Medical Center, has been so supportive and helpful in so many ways that I can't express enough in words how much she has been a partner not only in life but also the business."
