About Greg Spiekhout

They say that the past is prologue, and that our experiences shape who we are and who we will become. As someone who has lived a life filled with unique and varied experiences, I can attest to the truth of this statement. Each job I've held, every project I've undertaken, has left an indelible mark on me, shaping me into the person I am today. I have never been one to talk about myself, but I suppose it's time to try. I dedicated myself to working with children at the YMCA for years, a job that required patience and a compassionate heart. The expressions of pure joy on the children's faces when they learned something new or accomplished a new skill was a reward that made every hour, every day, a fulfilling experience. While pursuing my academic goals at Northern Illinois University, the combination of hands-on experience with children and academic learning provided me with a well-rounded education that I still utilize in my career today. During my time at JTS Coating, I honed my dexterity by skillfully sandblasting rough surfaces and transforming them into brilliant, pristine objects. I worked with some of my closest friends, and we took pride in every object we transformed, turning dull and unremarkable items into things of beauty. As much as I enjoyed the work, the best part was helping my friends realize their dream of starting their own business. We collaborated on countless projects, sharing our skills and learning from one another. Working as an Environmental Restoration Ecologist at Stantec was my true calling, and with each project, I felt as though I was making a positive difference in the world around me. The relationships I forged with colleagues who shared my passion for conservation were invaluable. Whether it was felling trees or prescribed burns, I relished being outdoors and feeling a part of nature's grand scheme. The camaraderie of working outside with friends made every day a little better. The sound of trees falling to the ground invigorated me with every drop, and the satisfaction of seeing my progress, one tree at a time, was immeasurable. Whether alone or working in a team, every day was a chance to work in harmony with the rhythms of the forest. Currently, I am proud to be a part of Home Partners of America, a company that helps individuals and families achieve their dream of homeownership. The knowledge that I am making a tangible difference in people's lives, one home at a time, fills me with a sense of accomplishment beyond measure.
