About Greg Vann

After 46 years in urban & regional planning working in consultancy, local & state government, I’ve learnt a lot and am keen to share that knowledge. I reckon I can explain & lead good urban policy in a way people get. Have been around, as Life Fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia, and won many awards in this long career. Also travelled widely to build and spread my planning knowledge, including leading best practice planning tours. I like to focus now on leadership, advocacy, national & international experiences, and particularly helping others in their careers. Also love advising on big planning work, and working with people in planning to skill up their effectiveness in their work. Also enjoy contributing to our collective work towards better communities by delivering keynote addresses at conferences, hosting /MCing events, and facilitating city building processes. Some career highlights include a consultancy role as Project Director in the team which prepared ShapingSEQ, the South East Queensland Regional Plan, Chief Strategic Planner in Residence for the Cory of Hobart, chair of the Qld Transit Oriented Development Taskforce and co hosting the CitySpeak Australia podcast with Stephen Yarwood. Am also chair of the Board of the Gold Coast Waterways Authority and President of Queensland Walks. I do like to stay up late at conferences to enjoy time spent with city building friends, old & new.
