About Greg Wee
Greg Wee works in the intersection between creative digital media and cultural content by adapting contemporary and traditional cultural stories and communicating them through various visual storytelling platforms such as interactive media, animation, comics and games. Greg is a Senior Lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak teaching a wide range of disciplines including art, comics illustration, character design, animation, motion graphics and film. His interest lies in creative content development, animation production, training and the development of the industry. Greg is also a host for TVS’ Director’s Cut - a show that features interviews with Malaysian animation companies & creatives. Recently he has also been appointed as a columnist to create content and articles for TVS. In this capacity, he facilitates discussions with industry players to inform, educate and inspire the creative community; so that we can find solutions to face challenges; and collaborate to build a creative industry. In 2012-2013, he led a team of Swinburne Multimedia Design alumni to produce an original 13-episode animated series Rahsia Anak Rimba for TVi (Astro Channel 180). In 2016, he led another team to design and produce interactive museum displays for the Sarawak Museum’s Urang Sarawak exhibition. His expertise was once again sought after in 2018 to lead his team in designing & producing a range of interactive gallery displays (kiosks, projection mapping, AR, game) for the Endau Rompin Rainforest Discovery Centre in Pahang, a project under ECER (East Coast Economic Development). Currently he is overseeing the development and production of various interactive content for the new Sarawak Museum. Greg’s professional team consists of specialists in UNITY interactive programming (apps/games/gallery), user interface design, MAYA 3D modelling & animation, 2D animation, concept design, graphic design & visual art/illustration; with solid project experience in creative interactive displays for galleries & animation.
