About Greg Woods

I teach Criminology, Criminal Justice and Legal Studies courses with the Department of Justice Studies at San José State University. An internationally respected law enforcement and legal trend expert, constitutional scholar, and student of history, I am privileged to regularly provide commentary and analysis on television and radio programs, podcasts and in print. On behalf of the Center for Continuing Education, I have developed and presented online continuing legal education programs including: Through the Smoke: Legal Trends and Gun Violence, Policing from Where We Are, And Then There's Fraud, and Ethics and the Court of Public Opinion. Calculated to address significant issues impacting the United States, I wrote and presented Policing in the Current Political and Social Climate to members of the San José Police Department and other agency personnel, a first of its kind law enforcement training model. I am proud to have delivered training seminars to top Beijing police officials from the Ministry of Security of the People's Republic of China, through a foreign language interpreter, emphasizing sources of legal authority, limitations to the use of force and legal remedies in response to police misconduct. In addition to serving students at San José State University, I am fortunate to have taught at the University of San Francisco, Cal State East Bay, Sonoma State and San Francisco State Universities. I received my Doctor of Jurisprudence from San Francisco Law School and live and work in the Bay Area. Greg Woods, J.D.
