About Gregor Burns

I am a Financial Crime expert, with First Line, 1.5 and Second Line experience. I hold a Masters Degree (2020) from the University of Edinburgh in ‘Global Crime, Justice and Security’ which engages with Financial Crime and Organised Crime. I obtained a Distinction Grade in my ICA International Diploma in ‘Financial Crime Prevention’ (2023). I currently operate as a SME FinCrime Advisory Manager, within the Second Line, reporting directly into the Group’s Global MLRO & Head of Compliance, with key responsibilities being delegated authority to make overarching FinCrime decisions and the oversight of FinCrime Operations Teams. I am experienced in engaging with the UK Regulator where I have been directly responsible for leading on three high profile regulatory projects covering Sanctions and Fraud. I am skilled and experienced in advising the business on complex cases, supporting on regulator remediation, leading change transformation projects, assessing/designing FinCrime controls through enhancement proposals and risk management resolution. I effectively promote and cascade a strong Governance and Compliance culture with the production of Governance Packs up to Board level, refreshing and creating Group Policies. I manage and leverage a diverse stakeholder network, up to Board level, who I collaborate with to support functions across the Business find resolutions to complex Financial Crime issues. I am recognised as an exceptionally hard worker who stays focused under pressure allowing me to make measured, confident decisions. I am confident leading complex work across stakeholder groups, and skilled in the ability to identify areas for improvement, constructively challenge and present coherent, achievable steps, to implement solutions.
