About Gregor Novak

Lawyer and EU official with 10+ years of professional experience in law and international affairs, currently serving as a Member of the Legal Service of the European Commission. EU experience includes serving the Council of the EU, the European Council, the European External Action Service, and the European Commission (DG for Competition). Completed the EU Diplomatic Academy, a residential professional development program run by the College of Europe. Previously, worked in private legal practice, the public sector, at the International Court of Justice, and in academia. Also serving as Adjunct Professor of Law at the Brussels School of Governance and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law. Doctorate from Yale University (Ambrose Gherini Prize), Diploma of the Hague Academy of International Law, and further degrees from Yale Law School and the University of Vienna. Served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of British Columbia in 2019/20. Alumnus of the Fox International Fellowship, the Fulbright Program, and Green College (Vancouver). Fluent in English, Croatian, German, and French. Admitted to the New York State Bar since 2014.
