About Gregor Panitz

I have never liked standards, norms or guidelines. Yes, we need them, we apply them and they make a lot of things easier. They help us not to always start from scratch and always show us a safe path. But it's not my world. I very often associate them with innovative stagnation. Everyone uses the same pens and the same colors and paints a similar picture with the same technique and in the same order. The result is always a slightly different picture, a different melody, but somewhere very, very similar. Unimaginative. Boring. In my 25 years as a product developer, I have always tried to change situations like this. My playgrounds were very often green playgrounds where I could let off steam creatively and innovatively. However, there were always some “restricted” projects and even with these I managed to uncover potential for improvement. There are 3 sentences in development that I have never accepted and will never accept: 1. we've never done it this way before! we've always done it this way! that is impossible! The last statement in particular triggers a waterfall of “why” questions for me. It's like a challenge that I can't refuse. Because it is precisely at this point, when we make the supposedly impossible possible, that we create true innovation and a real technical advantage. I love digging into engineers' heads and stirring them up until they develop ideas that were unthinkable 30 minutes earlier. The critical skeptics very often turn into innovation pioneers. It is a pleasure to experience when skeptical but justified concerns are used as a basis for analysis and great ideas for solutions develop from them. And it always makes me happy to see that it really works. That my simple questions and methodical impulses work so well that the team creates solutions in just a few hours or days, some of which no one in the team had previously thought of in hundreds or thousands of hours of development work. After many years on the development front, I sometimes can't keep my hands off developing ideas and creating concepts and am happy to lend a helping hand.
