About Gregory Droba

Gregory is currently a Principal Engineer with Terra Power Nuclear and is involved in the design and construction of Sodium cooled Small Modular Reactors (SMR). As a Sr Staff Software Engineer with Collins Aerospace (UTC) he worked with embedded Linux in support of a number of Software Defined Radio (SRD) systems. Previously, as Senior Engineer with GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, he's worked for a number of GE business designing, modifying, and supporting data acquisition and control instrumentation systems. Examples of which include ultra-sonic data acquisition and robotic systems, used to perform ASME inspection of the reactor vessels, rotating machinery monitoring systems that monitor turbines, and nuclear measurement, monitoring and control instrumentation. He holds a BS from Bemidji State University in Engineering Physics and a MS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina Charlotte,(UNCC). He combines his knowledge of applied physics with systems and software engineering to solve complex problems of creating safe, secure, robust, high quality digital control and information systems that are the brains behind the world’s safest Nuclear Reactors. His solutions are found in GE-Hitachi’s Boiling Water Reactors (BWR), Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) and Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactors (ESBWR) where he’s held a number of successive roles involving software quality assurance (SQA), design, and development and principle and technical leadership. Full Software and Systems Engineering Development Lifecycle experience. Proven ability to deliver and implement projects. Embedded and real-time data acquisition system design including: o Linux o Nuclear Safety Systems (NUMAC) o Automated Ultra Sonic systems. o Motion control systems o Fault tolerant systems. o Rotating Machinery Diagnostic Comprehensive computer skills and programming languages. Extensive academic background in computational modeling techniques (including UML), abstract definitions, algorithms, AI and expert systems. Technical Writing and Project management experience.
