About Gregory Fletcher

Gregory Fletcher is a Dallas, Texas native, a New York City resident, and a graduate with various theatre degrees from CSUN, Columbia University, and Boston University. His short play Stairway to Heaven has been performed across the US and was awarded the National Ten-Minute Play Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Other plays have had a dozen Off-Off Broadway productions. Other awards include the Mark Twain Prize for Comic Playwriting, 2nd Place for the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award from The Association for Theatre in Higher Education, and a national finalist for the Reva Shiner Comedy Award from Bloomington Playwrights Project. Additional publishing includes five essays, two short stories, two YA novels, and the craft book Shorts and Briefs (a collection of short plays and brief principles of playwriting). He has taught at various universities, currently at the Maslow Family Graduate Program in Creative Writing at Wilkes University. As an Entertainment Supervisor, he worked at Walt Disney World, a member of the original team of [the former] Pleasure Island. As a stage manager, Fletcher has worked with over a dozen Off-Broadway productions as well as the national tour of Edward Albee's Three Tall Women and several regional theaters. Fletcher's favorite survival job was working as a personal assistant to Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara for over ten years in between theater jobs. Jerry always said I was "a mensch," so there you have it.
