About Gregory Hoppe

I entered the oil and gas industry in May 2016 as a construction contractor in refining and swiftly transitioned into a safety role with XTO Energy, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, in July 2018. I've had the privilege of advising construction projects and currently serve as the safety coordinator for a PSM facility and midstream operations. My experience includes contributing to plant turnarounds, commissioning multi-million-dollar compressor stations, and overseeing day-to-day gas plant and midstream operations. I am trained in performing Taproot investigations and have conducted formal investigations for my company in the past. Additionally, I have experience participating in HAZOPs and risk screenings for oil and gas operations. What I find particularly rewarding in my current safety role is the opportunity to engage with multiple levels of supervision overseeing our assets, apply critical thinking to manage risks, and influence decision-making without relying on authority. This position has allowed me to interface with local and global teams within the corporation to gain insights into global risk management. Additionally, I have the privilege of leading other safety contractors and contributing to their professional growth within the organization. Concurrently, I was to complete a degree in occupational health and safety, with aspirations to earn my CSP accreditation. My long-term career goal is to work in an international role, facilitating interactions with diverse groups and expanding my career beyond the United States.
