About Gregory Rosewell

I am credentialed to teach English Language Arts, hold a M.Ed. from U.C. Santa Cruz, as well as a BA in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Narrative Writing from the University of Vermont. In addition to my classroom teaching experience I have worked with high risk populations as a Youth Crew Leader with the Vermont Youth Conservation Corp as well as a Wilderness Therapy Guide with True North Wilderness Program in Waitsfield, VT. My overarching goal as an educator is to act as a mentor and role model in the school community while providing engaging, committed, and critically minded instruction to all students. I foster a supportive yet challenging learning environment where students become skilled and empowered problem solvers, critical thinkers, readers/writers and where a respect for self, as well as other community members, is established and upheld. In addition to my classroom teaching experience, my professional work as a Youth Crew Leader and as a Wilderness Therapy Guide has given me the opportunity to build rapport among a diverse group of learners while gaining confidence and skill in working with students who need substantial extra support. In these positions I worked very closely with students who faced extreme challenges, both academically and emotionally, and I provided direct instruction and support in order to promote personal responsibility, individual empowerment, and a rigorous commitment to self-reflection and academic growth. As an Autism Interventionist I provided intensive, specialized instructional and behavioral treatment and support services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I was responsible for teaching and assessing essential communication, social, adaptive behavior, daily living, and functional learning skills while coordinating directly with faculty, staff, family and community members on a daily basis. I am fully trained in Discrete Trial Intervention as well as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.
