About Gregory Rupik

I am the Chief of Staff and University Secretary at the University of St. Michael's College (USMC). With over a decade of progressively more senior positions in administration and teaching at USMC and the University of Toronto, I am adept at fostering executive effectiveness, seamless governance, and the strategic agility required to drive institutional innovation. As a philosopher and historian of biology (PhD, University of Toronto) with theological training (MA, USMC), I bring a profound understanding of the complexities of higher education and a steadfast commitment to its mission of learning, discovery, and positive community impact. My experience as both an academic and an administrator uniquely equips me to navigate and advance institutional priorities with insight and purpose. My most recent book, Remapping Biology with Goethe, Schelling, and Herder: Romanticizing Evolution, recruits a Romantic philosophy of biology into contemporary debates to both integrate the theoretical implications of ecology, evolution, and development, and to contextualize the successes of the Modern Evolutionary Synthesis’s gene’s-eye-view of biology.
