About Gregory Sampson

I am a real estate, land use, and environmental attorney with more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, including significant experience in the planning, design, permitting and development of brownfields and other previously developed properties, as well as renewable energy and infrastructure projects. My practice includes representing clients on matters relating to acquisitions/dispositions and commercial financing, including construction loans, refinancing, workouts, and tax credit supported lending. I represent clients throughout the permitting and public approval process at the federal, state, and local levels on issues related to zoning and land use, wetlands and waterways, air and water quality, environmental policy acts, and sustainability mandates and incentives. I have worked on many different types of projects (commercial, industrial, residential, mixed-use, transmission/generation projects, roadways and public transit, dams, coastal/shoreline stabilization, natural resource improvement, etc.) and have represented developers, owners, buyers/sellers, lenders, utility companies, and municipalities. In addition, I have worked throughout the US examining the effect of federal, state, and local real estate initiatives, such as smart growth and sustainability initiatives, local comprehensive plans, impact fee studies, zoning codes and provisions, wetland, stormwater, and endangered species regulations. With a background as a scientist and planner, I also have an interest in the integration of sustainable design elements into projects, including appropriate elements of Low Impact Development, New Urbanism, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards. In addition to being an attorney, I am a LEED® Accredited Professional in Neighborhood Development,(LEED AP ND, accredited by the GBCI) and was formerly certified as a Professional Wetland Scientist by the Society of Wetland Scientists.
