About Gregory Taylor

I'm an Optical Engineer with a background in precision metrology, machine vision, and cross-functional hardware development. I thrive at the intersection of optics, automation, and design—turning physical systems into tightly integrated test platforms that deliver reliable, scalable data. At Amazon Lab126, I led the development of high-precision optical metrology systems, including “Golden Light Engines” and automated in-line testers for display systems. These tools enabled diffraction-limited performance and six-sigma-level repeatability. I also conducted user studies to evaluate perception-linked optical artifacts—connecting physical performance to real-world experience. My early career included internships at Ball Aerospace and GTRI, where I contributed to high-energy Raman LIDAR systems, Fabry-Pérot etalons, and holographic recordings. I bring experience in MTF testing, alignment, artifact characterization, and illumination design. I work fluently across Zemax, MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks; and I’ve built metrology systems involving custom illumination, autocollimators, telecentric lenses, and custom automation frameworks. With roots in both engineering and the performing arts—including directing the first university-backed virtual reality ballet—I combine precision with creativity.
