About Grisel Samayoa

I am a San Diego State University alumni, Master's degree in Social Work. I am also a Chapman University alumni, double major in Psychology and Spanish. I work towards making a positive change in peoples' lives. Previously, I have worked in child welfare emergency response as an investigating social worker with Monterey County Family and Children's Services. I apply communication skills to take an initiative in any situation to solve problems; I have a strong diverse cultural background that instills a passion for community service and work ethic. I seek to better underprivileged communities – I believe strongly in equal education for all. I interned for the Lemon Grove School District fall of 2017 and spring of 2018 as a School Social Worker, working with a diverse population; I obtained my Pupil Personnel Services Credential. I interned with San Diego Child Welfare Services as an emergency response social worker fall 2018 and spring of 2019. I have a strong record of achievement: Title IV-E recipient, Orange County College Access Network Program Scholar (Earl Woods Scholar), Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar, Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholar, The East Los Angeles Community Union Scholar (TELACU) and Southern California Golf Association Scholar (SCGA-Livingston Family Foundation). I was selected to be the key note speaker for SCGA Foundation Scholar Dinner in 2014. I was selected to be a Latina to Watch by the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), March 2014. I am passionate about mentoring youth, I was a Lead Mentor for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund Youth Leadership Institute, June 2014.
