About Guido Ubertini

16 years of experience in missile and rockets engineering have taught me there is always a new challenge ahead, and failure is never an option. Early at my professional life as Aeronautical Engineer, I worked for 4 years as a Student Researcher at IAE (Brazilian Aeronautics and Space Institute), where I developed my passion for rockets, gathering experience as mechanical and aerodynamics designer for space vehicles, with an emphasis on sounding rockets mission performance, trajectory analysis and simulation, while working at the VSB-30 project. After that, I moved to the defense industry at AVIBRAS as Systems and Aerodynamics Engineer, responsible for the first Brazilian Cruise Missile aerodynamics design (AV-TM 300 project), using analytical approaches, numerical simulations and experimental testing. In a short time I was Lead Aerodynamicist of the missile and on my 4 years at AVIBRAS I developed skills and knowledge regarding flight physics/dynamics, missile trajectory simulation and performance, mission design and analysis, and a system view of all the main subsystems that compose the missile and how they interact to build a complex system. I was in close contact with the propulsion team for the turbojet air intake design, being responsible for the design of a transonic open-section wind tunnel for aero-propulsive tests, as well as interfacing with the mechanical team for body and lifting surfaces distributed loads, and with the control team with concentrated aerodynamic coefficients tables and performance analysis. My combination of skills, steep learning curve and flexibility provided me the opportunity of joining as a partner and director at ATS, one of the most successful Brazilian engineering consulting companies specialized on simulation/model based engineering and design, where I spent the next 5 years working as specialized consultant for defense and aeronautical industries, as well as several challenging projects for the automobilist industry, naval, thermal, oil and gas, and many more. At last, I decided to join the space industry at DARK a promising start-up in France with an ambitious project of designing the next generation space defense system. Starting as lead Trajectory and Mission Engineer, and rapidly transitioning to Chief Mission Operations Engineer, I am using all my knowledge and experience on system design and missile engineering to help DARK reach the stars. With a small but amazingly skilled engineering team, It will be a hard but definitely successful adventure.
