About Gurmani Kaur

I am Gurmani Kaur, a sophomore Industrial and Product Design student at Pratt Institute and a divergent thinker who builds at the intersection of design, technology, and social impact. I love turning ideas into systems that serve people, whether that’s a mental‑health craft community, immersive VR learning tools, or sustainability‑driven products. At Pratt, I have extended my passion for purposeful design into action. I am the elected Chair of Student Life in the Student Government Association, representing student voices on the Board of Trustees. Nominated as the Co-Programming Director of AIGA Pratt (American Institute of Graphic Arts), I curate career development events and help connect students to professionals from companies like Figma, Google, and Spotify. Appointed as an Undergraduate VR Research Assistant, I am currently developing a toolkit that empowers design students to build characters, simulate interviews, and present portfolios in immersive virtual spaces. Furthermore, I founded Virtual Reality Design Society, Pratt’s first Virtual Reality Club, fostering a multitude of connections and collaborations in my time at Pratt Institute. Before Pratt, I launched a product line under my brand Giormani; authored Remember Me – The Cries of a Teenage Mind; earned national honors in robotics, filmmaking (Pin of Excellence; DIGEX 2023 TV coverage); served on an editorial board interviewing Padma Bhushan awardees; advanced legal and social advocacy with Nyaaya, Jeevshakti NGO, Hemkunt Foundation; and sustained six consecutive years of top academic honors.Driven by purpose, grounded in growth. I am open to internships and collaborations in XR, Industrial/Product design, Experiential Design, Sustainability and Research opportunities. Let’s connect.
