About Gurmesa Daba

I am a graduate of Addis Ababa University MSc in Maternal & Reproductive Health Nursing and Hawassa University BSc in Midwifery. I am an experienced public health expert with 12+ years of progressive experience in demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, quantitative / qualitative data collection and analysis by using tools like ODK, kobo tool, CSPro, SPSS, STATA, and open code V4 software, maternal, neonatal and reproductive health research, community service and program coordination. I have taken different Training of Trainers related to maternal, neonatal and reproductive health and facilitated trainings in collaboration with different governmental and non-governmental organizations like Oromia regional health bureau, the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, JSI/L1OK, FGAE Ethiopia, JPEGO Ethiopia and IPAS Ethiopia. I have led impactful research and community service projects, published 9+ peer-reviewed articles in international journals on sexual and reproductive health and rights that have received more than 113 citations, and granted five community service projects as a main initiator in designing and implementing the project in Ambo University. I am fluent speaker of English, Amharic, and Afan Oromo. I am advised over 70 undergraduate and graduate students demonstrating my commitment to nurturing the next generation of researchers. I want to excel in the area of academic and research in public health and maternal and neonatal health. My career spans encompass prominent institutions in Ethiopia demonstrating a commitment to advancing healthcare practices and research in the country. By laying a strong foundation in research and practical applications, I want to continue as a vital contributor to the field of public health, striving to improve health outcomes and healthcare delivery systems in my community and beyond. I want to continue my research journey by following my PHD in the area of public health especially in maternal, child and reproductive health.
