Background
About Gustas Grinbergas
Gustas started karting in 2010, his best achievement was finishing second in the Rok Cup International Final in the Junior Rok Class in 2016. In 2019 Gustas graduated from karting to the European Le Mans Series with Oregon Team. After a late call up to the Asian Le Mans Series, Gustas, partnered up with Cody Ware won 2 races and took home the Championship with the #52 crew. After a promising start to the 2019 season in the European Le Mans Series with a pole position and a 4th place finish at the Circuit Paul Ricard, the rest of the season didn’t go Oregon team’s way, a brake fire at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza retired the car at the team’s home race, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya while the car was recovering from a gearbox issue Gustas was hit from behind and the team was forced to repair the car. During the Silverstone Circuit race the car had an engine issue which forced the team to retire yet again, after a contact with a GT car by Gustas’ teammate at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps the team lost a lot of time and couldn’t produce a good result, at the final round at the Algarve International Circuit Gustas’ teammate was involved in a big lap 1 collision which ended the teams’ race. In the Asian Le Mans Series, a Monday night call up to replace Mark Kvamme in the Rick Ware Racing #52 for the second round of the Asian Le Mans Series turned out to be a great decision by the team as the #52 dominated at The Bend Motorsport Park bringing home the win in LMP2 AM and 5th place overall, with this win Gustas became the youngest driver to win an Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO)-sanctioned race. The team won again and sealed up the championship for the #52 car and Cody Ware at the Sepang International Circuit. At the final round of the season at the Chang International Circuit Gustas and Cody finished second behind the sister #25 car, which gave the #25 second place in the Championship. Gustas came back to the ELMS for a one-off appearances in 2020 and 2021, racing with RLR-Msport team and Intereuropol Competition team. His best results in both years came in 2021, during the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring (ELMS) where he finished 5th, just a few seconds short of a podium place. In 2021 Gustas started working with the “One Boys Story” club, coaching Porsche enthusiasts on simulators with the goal of having these very drivers race on the real racing tracks.
