About Gustav Wulf

My passion for aviation and space technology has in many ways directed me in life. It early on led me to flight school, from which I graduated in 1997 with a commercial pilot's license. From there I continued to do an M.Sc. in space electronics and a Ph.D. in industrial electronics and after some twists and turns I ended up at Saab Aeronautics, where I was involved in the innovative work with Gripen E in Linköping and in Brazil (where I was stationed as an expatriate 2016–2018).During my 8 years at Saab Aeronautics I led teams of different sizes, with members of different nationalities in different countries. I also gained much experience in meeting requirements from authorities, both in Sweden and abroad. I have an extensive network in the aerospace industry, especially in Sweden and Brazil, but also in the US and Europe, which I have gained by participating in standardization work (RTCA) and two EU-projects (EISCAT\_3D and SafePower). Working internationally is something I am used to and I can communicate efficiently and fluently in English in any given situation.In 2020 I moved from Saab Aerospace to FOI to get closer to my theoretical background and get a chance to focus solely on research again.I have experience of planning, budgeting and following up operations, staff and research projects, as well as being responsible for the software development environment with licensing, open source and more. I implemented completely new processes at Saab Aeronautics to ensure that all software development were efficient while adhering to licensing agreements and the rigorous security requirements.My ability to connect different fields of technology to find new innovative solutions have proven to be invaluable to my work, both as a researcher and in the industry. I know that this would be a great asset to Heart Aerospace as well. With 5 children at home I have learned that being explicit and open in my communication is imperative and I fully understand that each individual has their own needs and ways to communicate and solve differences.
